Hello, May!

Welcome to another month full of local events here in Brant County. From outdoor events, to Mother's Day, to theatre productions and more, check out these local events and mark your calendars! 
 

Brantford Lifestyle Spring Home Show
Friday, May 6th 3pm-8pm

The Brantford home show is back! Visit the Civic Centre for an in-person event showcasing local home renovators and lifestyle experts in Brantford. You will be able to speak to and compare companies to help you get started on spring renovations or home improvements.

 

Paris Horticultural Society Plant Sale
Saturday, May 7th, 8am-11am

Visit the Apps Community Centre-Arena for a selection of perennial favourites from member's gardens, vegetables, herbs, annuals, and native plants. Master Gardener on site. Proceeds go toward horticultural/environmental education and public plantings.

Eliza's Mother's Day Afternoon Tea: Sunday, May 8th

An elegant afternoon at the Bell Homestead with a scrumptious assortment of tea sandwiches, scones and desserts. Mimosa cocktails will be served as a special treat. Take a tour of Eliza Bell’s 1870's home with the Brant 4H Club as we celebrate Alexander Graham Bell's mother along with all of our moms! Ticket includes museum admission. $40.00 per person, children ages 8 and under cost $15.00 per child. Call us or email for tickets. 

Museum Open House: Saturday, May 21st, 9am-4pm 
May is Museum Month Open House, visit for a complimentary tour of the Bell Homestead as we celebrate International Museums Day! Call or email us to pre-book a tour. 

27th Annual Barn Sale: Saturday, May 28th
Annual rummage sale including household items, furniture, clothing and oddities galore. Proceeds from the sale benefit our annual community special events. Have items to donate? You can drop off your donations at the Bell Homestead or call 519-756-6220 or email to arrange pick-up. 


Wellness Roadshow
May 15th, 1030am-5pm

The Wellness Roadshow, presented by Holistic Health Canada at the Paris Fairground featuring gifted Health Practitioners, Alternative therapies, Psychics, Mediums, Angel & Tarot card readers, Energy practitioners, various health and wellness companies, natural household products and crafters selling handmade jewelry, art, crystals, soaps, candles and other items for personal wellness.
Including over 110 exhibitors, workshops included with admissions, door prizes, photobooth contest.

Brantford Canal Walk: Saturday, May 14th, 10:30-12pm 

Starting at the loop at the end of Beach Road east of Lock’s Road, explore the reasons for the Grand River Navigation Co., and what remains of the Brantford Cut of the Grand River Canal.


Victoria Park Heritage Square: Saturday, May 28; 10:30am-12pm
Starting at the Brant Museum & Archives, 57 Charlotte Street, Brantford, discover the heritage of one of this city’s most significant heritage districts with links to so much of our local history.




 
The Great Canadian ButterTart Fest 
Saturday, May 28th 11am-4pm, Sunday, May 29th 11am-3pm

Visit the Paris Fairgrounds for this outdoor event where the top bakers from across Ontario come together and as usual ACE never disappoints in the foodie area - we are bringing you some of the best in street food! Featuring talented artisans and crafters along with us for the ride.

 

Playful Fox Productions Presents “The Pirates of Penzance”
May 28th & 29th

Playful Fox Productions is a community theatre company serving Brantford, Ontario, Brant County and other local communities. Based on the beloved classic “Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance”, come experience the songs you know and love like “I am the very model of a modern Major General” and “Poor Wandering One” with an exciting updated new script for today’s theatre audience.

 

Spring Indigenous Market
Friday May 27th, 2pm-8pm

Cheifswood Park & Woodland Culture Centre to bring you the and Smoke Dance Competition! Featuring local Six Nationas and Grand RIver artists and vendors. 
Come out and watch the amazing smoke dancers and get your shop on!

Rec Expo
Saturday, May 28th, 10am-1pm

The County of Brant is excited to announce the return of the Rec Expo at the Burford Community Centre.
This free event is your one-stop-shop for information on sports and recreation groups, organizations and clubs in the County of Brant and our neighbouring municipalities that offer services to individuals of all ages. Plus register for activities, enter contests, enjoy giveaways and more! Information will also be available on financial assistance.

Holmedale Art Crawl
Sunday May 29th, 2022  10am-5pm

An art crawl is a self guided tour of an area during a specified time where participating artists in their own locations show us the stuff they have made! Including 48 artisans, 29 locations.
